Start with the outcome
Instead of “write about coffee”, specify the goal: a short product description or an explanation of brewing methods for a beginner.
Add context and audience
Describe the product, situation and reader. State what information to use and what must not be invented. If inputs are incomplete, ask the model to clarify first.
Choose a format
A list, table, email and outline need different structures. Specify length, required points and tone. Avoid a long set of conflicting instructions.
Example
“You are an editor for a coffee shop. Write a 100-word bean description for a beginner: plain-language tasting notes, brewing method and one tip. Use only these facts: … Flag missing information.”
Review and refine
Check facts and suitability first. Then request one improvement: shorten, change the tone or add an example. Save a useful prompt as a template and adapt it to new material.
